Buy the Clara Shirt and Dress sewing pattern from Notches. Clara is a timeless and versatile design that you can fully customise to your liking. You can choose between a Cuban collar (camp collar) or a collarless version, depending on the look you want to create. Go for sleeveless or short sleeves, and optionally add a wide sleeve cuff for extra length and a playful touch.

The different pocket options – from large flap pockets to a small rounded chest pocket, with or without a ruffle – give you complete freedom to define your own style. With colour blocking options, such as a contrasting hem, sleeve cuffs, and pocket trim, you can create endless variations.

Clara is also flexible in length: you can choose from four hem lengths, including a rounded hem that works perfectly for a dress version. The straight, slightly relaxed fit offers comfort and creates a clean, modern silhouette.

Suggested fabrics: Clara offers a wide range of fabric possibilities. Choose lightweight, fluid fabrics such as viscose, tencel, or fine cotton for a soft, flowing look. Prefer more structure? Opt for slightly heavier fabrics like cotton, chambray, or linen for a more boxy appearance. Heavier or more wintery fabrics also work beautifully for Clara, making it a pattern you can use throughout the seasons. The final result will vary depending on your fabric choice.

Cropped shirt: 140 cm (55") wide fabric: 210 - 265 cm (2 1/4 - 2 7/8 yd).

Shirt: 140 cm (55") wide fabric: 235 - 275 cm (2 5/8 - 3 yd).

Short dress: 140 cm (55") wide fabric: 285 - 330 cm (3 1/8 - 3 5/8 yd).

Long dress: 140 cm (55") wide fabric: 360 - 430 cm (3 7/8 - 4 3/4 yd).

Sizing: XS – 6XL / EU 34 – 62 (approx. UK 6 – 34/36, based on our standardised size chart). Please also check the designer's size chart and finished garment measurements.
